Here’s a list of volleyball drills that can help improve various aspects of your volleyball game:



• Blocker vs. Hitter: Simulate blocking and hitting situations.

• Have the hitter work on tooling and swiping out of bounds so that the blocker can work on dropping thier outside hand and turn the ball to the inside as they finish their block.


• Blocker Training: Focus on reading the attacker and timing the block. Make sure the blocker knows the hitter's tendancies, which hand they hit from, and their flow of their approach.


• Two-Person Blocking: Simulate one-on-one blocking situations.

• Work on the blockers winning the block by being the last one up and working around the block. Not straight up.


• Blocking Footwork: Work on quick lateral movements and penetration over the net.
 • Have a group make a line and go across the net one way (then back the other way) working on different blocks (1-step, 2-step, cross-over, 3-step crossover, 4-step with a shuffle).


• Transition drill: One side transitions off the net while the other team blocks. After the hitters transition off the net, the Coach will toss the ball to the setter who sets one of the hitters. After that side hits and the ball goes over the net, the blocking side becomea the hitting side now and they then transition off the net as the ball goes over. This drill is fast and goes back and forth alternating. Everyone else is either shagging balls, counting, or handing balls to the coach. do about 8, which would be 4 each side.
